LOCAL TRADE, The 2020 Hyundai Veloster 2.0 is the base naturally aspirated variant of Hyundais quirky, fun-to-drive hatchback. It stands out in the compact car segment thanks to its unusual three-door designone full-size door on the drivers side and two smaller doors on the passenger sideblending style, practicality, and a fresh take on hatchback ergonomics. Car and Driver +2 Fred Beans Hyundai +2 Exterior & Styling Visually, the Veloster 2.0 embraces boldness. Its low-slung roofline, sporty stance, and unique door configuration give it a somewhat niche appeal. The rear hatch design is compact but functional, offering useful cargo space. Trim-wise, it comes with 17-inch wheels, daytime running lights, automatic projector-beam headlights in higher trims, and heated power side mirrors. Car and Driver +2 Fred Beans Hyundai +2 Powertrain & Performance Under the hood, the Veloster 2.0 is powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated inline-4 that produces around 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. MotorTrend +2 Fred Beans Hyundai +2 Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic depending on trim and purchaser preference. Fred Beans Hyundai +2 Car and Driver +2 Acceleration is modest in this base setup; for example, a Veloster 2.0 automatic is reported to reach 0-60 mph in about 8.6 seconds. Its not a hot hatch, but it delivers competent everyday driving. MotorTrend Fuel Economy Fuel efficiency is decent for its class. The 2.0 model is EPA-rated roughly 25-27 mpg city / 33-34 mpg highway, depending on whether its the automatic or manual transmission. MotorTrend +1 These numbers make it competitive for daily commuting, though it doesnt quite match the most fuel-efficient non-turbo rivals. Car and Driver Interior & Cargo Inside, the Veloster 2.0 seats four. Front-seat room is generally good; rear seating is tighter, especially for adult passengers, given the sporty roofline and compact dimensions. Hooniverse +2 Car and Driver +2 Materials are adequate: a mix of soft touch and harder plastics. Feature content on base trims includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Bluetooth, multiple USB ports, and a six-speaker sound system. Higher trims add things like sunroof, upgraded audio, larger display, etc. Fred Beans Hyundai +2 Edmunds +2 Cargo capacity is respectable. With the rear seats upright, you get around 20 cubic feet of space; folding them down expands to about 44.5 cubic feet. That gives flexibility for hauling gear, groceries, or luggage. Car and Driver +1 Safety & Features Standard driver-assist features include forward-collision warning / mitigation, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning. On higher trims or optional packages, you can get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert. Car and Driver +1 Other conveniences: heated mirrors, optional wireless charging (on upper trims), automatic head lamps, power accessories, etc. The warranty from Hyundai is strong, which helps offset the base models modest performance. Car and Driver +1 Ride & Handling The ride is tuned to lean slightly toward comfort, but with enough stiffness to make driving engaging, especially in corners. Steering is responsive. However, when pushed hard the engine can get noisy, and the lack of turbo boost in the 2.0 means it doesnt deliver that instant punch some enthusiasts prefer., Option Group 01.

Great car!
By veeder | on Tuesday, November 30, 2021
if your looking for a sporty hatchback /coupe the Veloster is great car. it come in cheap then competitors and has similar performance/comfort and looks way better. The 3 door is an issue if you think of it as a car missing a door, but if you think of it as a two door with an extra door you'll be happy. Car probably not ideal if you have kids but for a young person its great…
