Dealer Notes
CARFAX 1-OWNER VEHICLE, LOCAL TRADE, The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit occupies a high spot in Jeeps lineup, blending premium appointments, rugged capability, and distinctive styling to create a full-size SUV that appeals to both luxury and off-road sensibilities. As one of the upper trims (just below Summit Reserve in many regions), the Summit is designed to deliver a more refined driving experience without losing the Jeeps trademark capability. Exterior & Presence Visually, the Summit trim distinguishes itself through upscale touches and an elegant road presence. Youll find chrome or polished accents, refined badging, and often two-tone paint options (roof in contrasting color) as a hallmark. Reddit +1 The body lines of the 2024 Grand Cherokee are muscular yet modern, with a planted stance, sculpted fenders, and a bold front grille that carries Jeeps identity into its latest generation. (The overall exterior reflects the refreshed Grand Cherokee styling for 2024.) Car and Driver +2 Kbb.com +2 LED lighting (headlamps, tail lamps, DRLs) is standard, and Summit models frequently add premium wheel designs (often 20 or higher) and more chrome or polished trim. Kbb.com +1 Powertrain, Drive & Capability Under the hood of the 2024 Grand Cherokee Summit is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine producing 293 hp (at 6,400 rpm) and torque in a midrange band. jeep +2 Car and Driver +2 While rear-wheel drive is standard in base versions of the Grand Cherokee, the Summit is typically built with four-wheel drive (or full 4 4 systems available) to deliver true capability in tougher conditions. Car and Driver +2 Kbb.com +2 The transmission is an 8-speed automatic. jeep +2 Edmunds +2 Fuel economy is moderate for a large SUV: about 22 mpg combined in many configurations. Edmunds Given its size, weight, and systems, the Grand Cherokee Summit leans more toward comfort and refinement than hyper efficiency. With its robust drivetrain, the Summit trim retains Jeeps heritage of capability: towing, trail modes, selectable terrain systems, and optional advanced 4WD systems make it suitable for drivers who want to venture beyond paved roads while enjoying premium touches. Interior, Comfort & Features Inside, the Summit trim elevates the Grand Cherokee into a more luxury-oriented environment. Expect high-quality materials: Nappa leather (or equivalent premium leathers), diamond-stitched seat inserts, real wood or polished trim accents, and soft-touch surfaces throughout. Reddit +2 Kbb.com +2 The seating is richly bolstered and often offers features such as: Heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats (sometimes including passenger) Heated rear seats (available in upper trims) Multi-zone climate control Ambient lighting, upscale headliner materials, and enhanced noise suppression Summit also brings in a suite of advanced technologies: A 360 surround-view camera system is often standard or included in premium packages on Summit trims. Reddit Tow package may come standard or included (for those towing needs) in Summit. Reddit +1 Jeeps Uconnect infotainment system with a large touchscreen, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and premium audio systems (possibly McIntosh or equivalent) Driver assist and safety tech like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping aid, blind spot monitoring, self-parking assist (parallel/perpendicular) in some versions Reddit +1 Cargo space behind the rear seats typically hovers in the high 30s of cubic feet (around 37.7 cu ft) in the 5-passenger configuration. Love it but....
By Jeep lover | on Wednesday, December 14, 2022
Bought brand new. At 300 miles, I started hearing a clanging noise during acceleration @17mph and @25mph during decel. Took it to 2 dealers (first one is where I bought it 55 miles away but they said they didnt hear it, 2nd one in my neighborhood heard it and said its "normal"), finally a 3rd dealer diagnosed it as a failed transfer case and replaced it. The new transfer case was installed and the replacement made the same sound @ 17 and 25. Back to the 3rd dealer and finally 5 days later the trans specialist and "engineering dept" decided its a failed front end differential. Seriously??? I love the Jeep, everyone in the family has a Jeep...mine is the only one with a failed differential.… - 2.0
Gorgeous Interior - Horrendous Mechanicals
By MoparMan | on Sunday, February 18, 2024
The Interior and electronics on the Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve are on par with the best that other luxury brands offer. The leather and real wood trim are refined, and the heads-up display is clear, sharp, and bright. However, the 4xe system does NOT work and is totally unreliable. We have had the vehicle in the shop multiple times, with the latest appointment taking three days. The dealer technicians worked with the engineers, and even after numerous software updates and component replacements, they couldn't get the vehicle to charge or even clear the check engine light. If you want a $86K luxury hybrid EV that can't take or hold a charge, then this is the vehicle for you.… - 3.0
Good solid car -- with too many minor annoyances
By Jake | on Friday, November 22, 2024
My previous vehicle was a 2014 JGC ecoDiesel, the first year Jeep reintroduced a diesel engine to the car. I loved that car - great torque and great mileage (31-32 mpg highway). I passed over the 2014 V6 gas engine because it just seemed underpowered to me. I didn't even want to test drive the 2022 V6 because of that memory but the salesperson convinced me to try it, saying it was a very different experience. And it is! Great pickup, good mileage for a car that size and weight (approx 26 mpg highway). Solid feel to the vehicle, not cheap and "tinny". But ... Many electrical issues. It was completely DOA on 2 occasions and had to be jumped to go to the dealer -- and no, I didn't leave anything on. Another time, as soon as I started it, every idiot light lit up the dashboard and remained on and bells kept chiming. I even didn't have power steering! Luckily, this happened in a strip mall parking lot literally across the street from the dealer (what are the odds?!?) and I was able to muscle the steering to get there. Guess what? I shut the car off and in the 5 minutes I was in complaining to the service manager it just fixed itself. In the 5 months since, though, random things don't work. Currently, the front collision mitigation warning light is on and my "Paddle shifting disabled". Service has no idea why, so I'll have to leave it yet again. Start/stop feature hasn't worked about 95% of the time I've had the car. it's been in 3 times so far for this and each time they promise me it's fixed, it works again as designed -- for about a week. And every couple weeks I'm doing a 200+ mile highway drive each way, so it's not as if the batteries aren't getting charged up. That's why I only rate the car a 3-star out of 5. Too many electrical (?) issues to recommend this vehicle. I have zero faith that it won't leave me stranded somewhere sometime and I'm sure I won't be across the street from the dealer when it happens.…
