    Dealer Notes

LOCAL TRADE, The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 marks the compact-SUV entry point for Mercedes luxury crossover lineup, offering a blend of style, agility, and premium touches in a more urban-friendly package. Engine & Drivetrain At the heart of the GLA 250 is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine producing around 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes-Benz USA Media +3 Kbb.com +3 Car and Driver +3 That power is transmitted through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to the front wheels as standard, while AWD (branded as Mercedes 4MATIC) is available as an option. Mercedes-Benz of McKinney +4 Car and Driver +4 Mercedes-Benz USA Media +4 Performance is competent for its class: city driving can feel a bit sluggish if youre relaxed on the throttle, but the turbocharger gives good mid-range punch when pushed. Car and Driver +1 Fuel economy estimates vary slightly by drivetrain: for the FWD GLA 250, Mercedes claims roughly 24 mpg city / 34 mpg highway; the AWD (4MATIC) variant is slightly lower. Edmunds +4 Mercedes-Benz of McKinney +4 Kbb.com +4 The combined figure sits around 2526 mpg in many real-world reports. Edmunds +2 Edmunds +2 Exterior & Dimensions Visually, the 2020 GLA 250 projects a more assertive, refined presence than earlier generations. Its proportions are compact: about 173.9 in length, with a 106.3 in wheelbase. Mercedes-Benz USA Media +2 Mercedes-Benz of Princeton +2 The design emphasizes flowing lines, muscular wheel arches, and a confident stance. Mercedes-Benz of Princeton +2 Mercedes-Benz USA Media +2 Ground clearance is higher than a sedan but still modest, emphasizing its crossover credentials rather than rugged off-road ambitions. The 2020 model year brings subtle updates to headlights, taillights, and some interior styling tweaks. Mercedes-Benz of McKinney +2 Mercedes-Benz of Princeton +2 Interior, Comfort & Features Inside, the GLA 250 is compact but thoughtfully executed. Seating is for five, and the use of premium materials, trim bits, and optional upgrades lend it a more upscale feel than many rivals. Edmunds +3 Mercedes-Benz USA +3 Mercedes-Benz of Princeton +3 The cargo area is reasonable for the class (though not class-leading) and visibility is decent. Kbb.com +1 Technology features include dual-zone automatic climate control, an infotainment system with smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto), and available optional packages that add features like heated seats, blind-spot monitoring, and a premium audio setup. Mercedes-Benz of McKinney +4 Mercedes-Benz of Princeton +4 Mercedes-Benz USA +4 While the cabin strives for luxury, rear seat space is tighter than larger SUVs, and headroom or legroom may be constrained depending on occupant height..

    • Nicely balanced SUV, er car

By NoBoringCars on Sunday, April 24, 2022

      5.0
I have had two GLA’s, the GLA45AMG and this one a GLA 250 4Matic. The good points: 1. Styling. I like the cross between hot hatch and SUV. This is my favorite size to drive. I like the interior which is classy and sporty but not stuffy and dull. 2. Utility. The car is sporty, drives smoothly, uses space well and does multiple duties from picking up groceries, to carrying kayaks and today was Home Depot where a box went through the back seat pass through for skis. With all weather matts its a true summer and winter car. 3. Comfort. For me, the perfect blend of sporty but absorbing bumps well and good sound proofing for a car this size. Seats are a hair on the hard side but adjust well. 4. Mileage and driving. The car is fun to drive and I often get 38mpg or more in the mountains here. Not sure why as I got lower mileage driving to Florida but with reasonable driving you get good performance and efficiency which reflects great engineering to me. Drawbacks 1. Space usage: The center console is small. It uses a dial which takes space and dexterity to use the screen while dialing through a hundred spots on the screen. Touch is much easier. On the plus they do not have the gross waste of space with silly trackpads like the GLC and other models. The bins in the door are a hair too narrow and things fall down and hard to get your hand in there to retrieve them. Limited glove box and need more cubby holes in the valuable middle spaces. 2. The electronics are a bit hard to use. The menus are not clear, Apple Car Play disappears and is not easy to find and bring back. No icon for it. You hit the TEL button twice and spin a dial. Crazy. The USB’s should be up front under instruments but are deep in the console. That’s very outdated but it’s not terrible. 3. Maintenance costs at dealerships will bring tears to your eyes. If you buy a Mercedes find out how much the A and B services are. They approach a grand for a B service in my area and no, you don’t get new tires with it. You don’t even get new wipers unless you add $200.00. A normal thing like a dead battery replacement was $636.00 and another $223.00 if I wanted a diagnostic hookup (I took a chance it was only the battery). From now on I will go to independents or at least price different dealerships if you want to buy one. Independents really bring the prices down from my research. If your car is out of warranty that is how I would go and even in warranty for services.

We use this one for our second car and we have found the car to be a fun and safe trip car. We did not know what the ice edition was, but it added a lot of AMG pieces. We will have this one for a while. Fantastic gas mileage, about 30 at 73 mph.
